Is Your Glass Half Empty or Half Full?

Do you see the glass as half empty or half full? This age old question might seem silly, but it can hint at whether you come from a place of abundance or scarcity. Moreover, it’s possible to think abundantly and scarcely at the same time.

While it might seem like an oversimplification, the opening question can lead you to increased self-understanding, even if you think the answer is obvious. Thus, it shouldn’t be answered superficially. I encourage you to take an honest self-inventory to better understand how you think. Here’s how…

On a piece of paper or on a computer, divide your sheet or page into two columns: one for abundance and the other for scarcity. Next, look at different areas of your life such as: relationships (romantic, family, friendships), work or career, money or finances, health, education or learning, etc. See how many examples of abundant or scarce thinking you can come up with for each category.

By taking this self-inventory, you will notice whether you lean more towards abundance or scarcity within multiple areas of your life, as well as overall. It is not until we know where we stand that we can see the next step.

So, is your glass half empty, half full or somewhere in between? I would love to hear your findings in the comments…
